Meet the Orthodontist
| Eric W. Hickman, DDS, MS Dr. Hickman, a native of Lucasville, Ohio, has been serving Southern Ohio since 1995. He received his dental degree from The Ohio State University in 1993, and graduated from his orthodontic residency at the University of Louisville in 1995. He is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Ohio Association of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association, and has served as an officer for the Southwest Ohio Dental Seminars Study Club for the past 6 years. Dr. Hickman has been recognized yearly by Deerfield Township for his sponsorship of the Hickman/Davis Scholarship. Dr. Hickman began his orthodontic career in 1995 as an Associate Orthodontist in an Anderson Township practice. During this time, Dr. Hickman purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. James Kiourtsis in Portsmouth, Ohio. This practice was a thriving part-time practice and was located in the Fifth Third Bank Building on 6th Street. In 2006, Dr. Hickman purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. Charles Wilson and moved to the Fulton Building on the Southern Ohio Medical Center Campus. Dr. Hickman, with the assistance of Dr. Jay Parekh, now serves as the only orthodontic provider in the Portsmouth area. The rapid growth of the Portsmouth practice provided the opportunity to leave his associateship positions behind, and in March 1997, Dr. Hickman opened the Landen (Cincinnati) practice. The first location was on Columbia Road in the Morand Building. The office was quaint, but it could not accommodate the increased patient flow as the practice grew. In 2003 in the midst of remodeling, a fire destroyed the Morand Building. Therefore, the practice was moved to its current location on Montgomery Road. The success of both the Landen and Portsmouth practices can be attributed to the support and referrals of the surrounding family dentists, existing patients, and the community. The referral of family and friends is the greatest compliment that can be paid an orthodontist. Dr. Hickman is committed to providing the highest quality orthodontic treatment in a comfortable environment. Dr. Hickman believes in treating his patients as he would treat members of his own family, and strives to make his younger and older patients alike comfortable in the orthodontic setting. Dr. Hickman enjoys a great reputation in the community and truly appreciates the support and referrals of existing patients and their family dentists. Dr. Hickman has 3 beautiful children, Allison, Sarah, and Scott. Allison,16, is a Junior at McNicolas High School, And Sarah,14, is a freshman.
